Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer San Diego makes volunteering easy. Our Flexible Volunteer Program, designed for the busiest San Diegans, offers over 80 projects a month to choose from. Search our database of volunteer projects for one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities with hundreds of community organizations throughout the county, serving a wide variety of issue areas. If you are new to volunteering or to our website, visit our Getting Started page for tips. Our Board Connection program helps you take a leadership role in the community by matching you to a nonprofit’s Board of Directors or one of their committees. In the event of a disaster, Volunteer San Diego is the source for information on how to help relief and recovery efforts locally and around the country.

Students Actively Volunteering for You (SAVY) Programs

For over 20 years, SAVY has focused on empowering and assisting young people in becoming volunteers and leaders in their communities. Annually, SAVY engages thousands of students in community service and service-learning projects and supports other youth service projects through leadership training in SAVY Clubs and SAVY Leaders. High school students can learn to make movies through Stories of Service and preserve the memories of our nation’s veterans. Volunteer San Diego also provides training and resources for educators wishing to integrate Service-Learning into their curricula.

Community Organization Support Services

Any nonprofit, government agency, school or community organization that utilizes volunteers may register their volunteer needs with us. Currently over 800 agencies have registered with Volunteer San Diego. Let us help connect volunteers to your organization. Your volunteer opportunities can be listed in our online database, as part of our Flexible Volunteer Program or special events, in our monthly newsletter and through our volunteer referral services. We can also help recruit members for your Board of Directors through our Board Connection program. Volunteer San Diego provides training and technical assistance to help you build the capacity of your volunteer programs.
