Disaster Program
Recovery
Recovery from a disaster can take weeks and months if not several years. Volunteer San Diego works to connect volunteers with ongoing needs long after the initial spotlight has faded.
Community Recovery Team
Volunteer San Diego is proud to partner with the Community Recovery Team (CRT). CRT provides resources and long term support to help rebuild the homes and lives of families affected by disasters.

Fire Recovery Volunteer Program
The 2007 Wildfires were one of the worst disasters in San Diego County's history. Volunteer San Diego worked towards addressing the needs of fire survivors by enlisting individuals and organizations to help these survivors, especially the elderly and most vulnerable citizens, with the difficult process of recovery. The support of the community allowed us to help in the following ways:
Services Provided
101 Properties cleared
29 Street addresses painted
10 Properties wood-chipped
3 Properties shoveled
2 Tree plantings
1 GIS mapping project
1 Chain-linked fence construction
Program Statistics
1,416 Total volunteers
332 Youth volunteers
507 On-site hours
7,069 On-site hours
1,307 Administrative hours
Thank You for Your Support
Volunteer San Diego's Disaster Program is made possible by donations of time and money.
Volunteer San Diego engaged in its recovery work with thanks from a grant made possible by the After-the-Fire Fund 2007, a fund of the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund, a support organization of The San Diego Foundation.
