In addition to our
flexible volunteering program, Volunteer San Diego has thousands of opportunities
that are not time and date specific, known as
“Ongoing Opportunities.” Typically, you will work
directly with the nonprofit to decide how many hours
you will volunteer, how often, on what days, etc.
While not all Ongoing Opportunities require an
extended
commitment, many are more suitable for people
who are able to commit to volunteering with
that organization on a longer-term basis.
To search for ongoing
opportunities
-
Log in
-
Select “Find
A Project” from the
left hand menu bar.
-
Select “Search
Projects” (we find this method most effective
for finding ongoing opportunities,
though you can also use the "Browse
Projects" option).
-
Select "Ongoing Volunteer
Opportunities," enter any other relevant search criteria
and click “Search.”
-
The
system will display a list of
opportunities that meet your search
criteria.
Click on the
opportunity you are interested in for
more information.
-
If you would like to volunteer for that
opportunity, select "Have Agency
Contact Me."
An email will be sent to the
nonprofit asking them to contact you
with more information.
-
You will
also receive a
confirmation email which contains all of
the information you should need,
including contact information for the
host agency.
Tip:
Make sure that you keep this email,
so that you can follow up with the organization in a few days if
you don’t hear back.
