Next Steps & Common Questions
The projects are online, ready to be chosen...what happens next?
Volunteers are already in the process of looking through the projects and selecting some to adopt. They can sign up for projects as an individual or with a team of people.
How will I know if my project is selected?
You will receive an email, providing the volunteer's name and contact information. If a team has selected the project, the team name and number of team members will also be provided. In some cases, volunteers will sign up as an individual, but intend to bring a group of people. Please follow up with the volunteer and confirm how many people will be participating. If they have enough people to successfully complete your project, please email
lfisher@volunteersandiego.org
and we will close your project.
If you are working with a volunteer group who has not signed up online or been in touch with Volunteer San Diego, please direct them back to us to register through the official channels. This will help prevent confusion and the same projects being adopted multiple times. Your help and cooperation with this is greatly appreciated!
What if my project isn't selected?
Unfortunately, each year, there are some projects that are not adopted. If it's getting close to the date and your project still has not been adopted, check out your listing on our website - perhaps there is something we can do to spice it up a little. If it's still not adopted, we will contact you after Hands On San Diego to see if you would like us to turn the project into an ongoing or holiday opportunity.
Note:
While Volunteer San Diego is doing much community outreach and publicity for the overall Hands On San Diego event, we do encourage you to promote your individual projects to help with volunteer recruitment.
