AL!VE: Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement: Began as COVAA, AL!VE (Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement) serves to enhance and sustain the spirit of volunteerism in America by fostering collaboration and networking promoting professional development, and providing advocacy for leaders in community engagement.

Association of Volunteer Resources Management: AVRM incorporated on March 5, 2007 and is taking steps to become an official tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. The primary goals of the new association will be to support and serve the professionals who work in volunteer resources management (VRM) through advocacy, educational programming and the provision of resources that meet the needs of the diverse field of VRM.

Best Practices for Developing a Volunteer Program: Online, ten-section guide from the Maryland Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism, produced by seasoned practitioners from the volunteer management field. This website provides a wealth of resources to volunteer managers and anyone interested in learning more about volunteerism. Library area with articles and complete electronic books available for free; annotated links to website containing information on everything from statistics on volunteering to service in specific settings.

Free Management Library: Easy-to-access, clutter-free, comprehensive resources regarding the leadership and management of yourself, other individuals, groups and organizations. Content is relevant to the vast majority of people, whether they are a large or small for-profit or nonprofit organization.

Idealist’s Volunteer Management Resource Center: Check out this wonderful addition to the Idealist site for a wide-range of resources, tools and networking opportunities. Information available includes: current research, best practices, program tools and other ideas.

Independent Sector: Have you been searching for the estimated dollar value of volunteer time? This provides annual updates and explains just how the value is based.

Nonprofit Risk Management Center: Provides information, technical publications, and online tutorials on liability, risk management, insurance, etc. in the nonprofit sector.

Points of Light Institute: This site provides an Economic Impact of Volunteers Calculator. It estimates the appropriate wage rate for volunteer time based on what the person does, the value of specific tasks according to market conditions as reported by the US Department of Labor. Organizations can use the Calculator to determine the value of the time their volunteers give doing a wide variety of volunteer jobs.

Volunteering in America: Presented by the Corporation for National & Community Service. Through this website, you will be able to access volunteering trends, statistics, tools, resources, and information for the nation, U.S. regions, states, and major cities. You will also be able to see how states and cities rank on different factors related to volunteering.

World Volunteer Web: United Nations Volunteers has created this comprehensive site offering continuing news of worldwide volunteer efforts, research reports and links to international volunteer resources.
