Statewide and National Volunteer Organizations

Hands On Network is the leading business unit within the Points of Light Institute portfolio and the activating arm. It is the largest volunteer and citizen action network in the nation. HandsOn Network inspires, equips, and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world. At the center of the network are more than 250 affiliates, like Volunteer San Diego, called HandsOn Action Centers that serve 83% of the American population and located in 12 international communities.

Volunteer Centers of California is an Association that works with a statewide network of 28 Volunteer Centers, such as Volunteer San Diego and their numerous branch sites to help coordinate statewide services in strengthening volunteerism throughout California. As a central point of contact, the Volunteer Centers of California provides a site through which nonprofit organizations, governmental departments, businesses and Volunteer Centers can collaborate on state, regional and local community service initiatives.

CaliforniaVolunteers mission of  is to increase the number and impact of Californians engaged in service and volunteerism. CaliforniaVolunteers administers the AmeriCorps portfolio in California, Citizen Corps, and the Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning, developed and maintains the California Volunteer Matching Network on CaliforniaVolunteers.org, and guides policy development to support the nonprofit and service fields.

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. Since 1994, more than 250,000 men and women have served in AmeriCorps, providing needed assistance to millions of Americans. AmeriCorps provides trained, dedicated people to help nonprofits accomplish more and make more effective use of volunteers.

The ARDON Resource Clearinghouse serves nonprofit organizations by assisting them to identify and access resources. It does so by conducting data searches of available resources within the community, including opportunities to collaborate with other organizations.

Nonprofit Management Solutions is the major provider of management and technology consulting, training, and information resources to nonprofit organizations in San Diego County.

Techsoup.org offers nonprofits a one-stop resource for technology needs by providing free information, resources, and support. In addition to online information and resources, they offer a product philanthropy service called TechSoup Stock. Here, nonprofits can access donated and discounted technology products, generously provided by corporate and nonprofit technology partners.
