Change yourself. Change your world. Volunteer.
Montezuma Valley Volunteer Fire Department
Description:

The Montezuma Valley lies on a stretch of Highway leading down to the Anza-Borrego Desert. Opened in 1964 to provide a direct link to Borrego Springs, Montezuma Valley Road twists down the hill from the farming community of Ranchita to the desert floor beyond. This road took 60,000 tons of dynamite and nearly 10 years to build.

Drivers benefit from its banked curves and turnouts where viewpoints permit observations of the endangered bighorn sheep which live on the rocky cliffs.

Montezuma Valley VFD is an entirely volunteer fire department stationed in Ranchita. In 2002, the Valley overall and the town of Ranchita itself experienced a significant wildfire, The Pines Fire. Area residents are especially aware of the need to prepare for, and defend against, wildfire.
