Agency: RAMONA CAL FIRE

Description: Farmers Insurance has partnered with members of the San Diego County Fire Chiefs Association, the CAL FIRE/Ramona Fire Department, and the Ramona West End Fire Safe Council in ramping up the "Before the Threat" preparedness and prevention campaign. This public education effort combines digital information with door-to-door contact. Packets contain a DVD which has life-saving and property-saving information on what to do before, during, and after a wildfire. It also offers informative printed material as well as information you can download on your computer.

This year, we are hoping teams of community volunteers join our firefighters in a door-to-door campaign in the Ramona Municipal Water District/Fire Department's high hazard urban interfacve areas. We are all in this together. Wildfires do not respect borders or neighborhoods.

Currently, Fire Departments are planning two major indoctrination days on Saturday, July 25, 2009 and Saturday, August 1, 2009.

If you are able to serve the Ramona Community in this volunteer effort, please register now!

Local registration begins at 08:00 but volunteers are welcome to sign in through noon. The first orientation/training session will begin at 08:30. Volunteers will be given "Before the Threat" T-shirts and delivery bags. Volunteers may determine how long their shifts will last; however, all volunteers will be asked to return to the station by 3 p.m. for check-out.
